I once saw some 20 years ago a pic of a 75% sized Me 109 project ( aviation mag ) and it was already running with a car engine...any news of that anywhere ?

Re: 75% sized Me-109 ?
No luck..I must have lost the mag or it was elsewhere...Sports Aviation some 20-25 yeras ago ?
I cannot remember was it 7/8 scale 70 % or 75 % either, but it was V-8 powered and either in California or elsewhere in the states..the builder had german sounding name Goldstein or Goldberg etc.
Anyone ring a bell ?

Re: 75% sized Me-109 ?
Marcel Jurca made plans for the Me/Bf-109 in 75% AND 1-1, MJ9/90...on a quick search I found this one:
There is an small (Cassutt sized) version in Germany....

Reminds me of the half scale p-38 that used to be hangared at my airport. That thing was super cool.

This maybe a stupid question, how come you see replica warbirds offered at 75% scale or 50% scale etc? If you're going to produce a replica, why not the orginal size?
I think the Thunder Mustangs are very cool, but full scale would be even better.

I think building a full scale P-51 would cost astronomical.... Its much easier to scale it down, use more simple components etc...

The material cost, especially anything carbon, would be substantially more expensive in full scale.

Re: 75% sized Me-109 ?
Thanks for the input !
What interested me most in "the Mr. Goldsteins 7/8" size Me-109 was the fact that he had made it look real. This is amazing since I know that there is 55 cm shoulder room in a 1:1 scale Me-109..nearly impossible to go smaller...but Nemesis was small too how little room did it have for shoulders ?

Cameron Aircraft is the only one I know of doing them in glass/carbon, and he's in Coeur D'Alene Idaho.
Not sure where they were based before he split with the original group.................any one?.........any one?......Bueller?Last edited by Apteryx; 10-07-2008, 06:06 PM.
