  • Howard Purdue's BearCat, best story of the week

    A box stock Bearcat, with a stock R-2800. All armor still in place. Qualifies at 417 and change around a closed cource.
    Bearcat max speed according to wiki is 428. Straight line speed I bet.
    Races all week with no problems.
    Finishes the Breightling Gold at an average speed of 402 and change.
    So what he was 81 miles an hour slower than #7.
    He was racing a stock plane at over 400mph.
    Thats awsome.
    Hats off to you Mr Pardue!!

    The brand new motor really made a difference.

        I think letting me clean the bugs off was good for at least 3mph, lol.
        Thanks for making my week. )))))))))))))))))

          I wasn't there but here is my guess;
          2800rpm and 72 in hg for @2800 hp?
          .5 lbs of ADI to 1 lbs of 160 gas (plus additives), and a lot of oil cooler spray bar water? Two rows of sprayers?

          Nice job guys, that's got to be one of the fastest Bearcats for that config. if not the fastest.
