  • Tuesday morning, what's gonna happen today?

Looking at the qualifying times so far, nice to see the Buick humping along at almost 460, way to go Matt! Great to see Dago back up to speed, at close to 475.

Questions for today - can Czech Mate get close to the Buick, or at least break 450? What about Strega? Who knows anymore, as the plane that used to go 475 plus seems to be stuck the last few years in the 450s with motor gremlins.

And of course, the drama continues with the Bear. Please keep the reports coming for those of us not in Reno yet!

One thing for certain about The Buick and CzechMate... Consistency.

You can be mostly assured that those 2 airplane will cross the finish line on Sunday somewhere in the top 5.

Lets have a test... please fill in the X...

Czech Mate has some speed this year, over 455 is very likely, Over 460, possible. My brother is out there now, I am sure I will get a call regarding the first qualifying session soon.

Strega may have shoe horned between Dago and September Fury according to the timing of my brother's watch. We'll see how good his timing skills are when the official times are posted.

Czech Mate also unofficially hand timed in the 453 range.

Watching the RARA site for official postings...

Re: Tuesday morning, what's gonna happen today?

Well he missed the time by a smidge, but was close.
RARA shows Strega in 3rd with 472.792!

          So actual lap times:
          Dago, 1:04.031=474.143
          #232, 1:04.131=473.404
          Strega 1:04.214=472.792

The sheet on the RARA site shows Czech Mate as a runner in the session, but with no time as yet NOW updated, listed as 452.903, First time over 450 for Czech Mate!!!!

It also appears that Von Grote (#33) called the clock in Sport but cut a pylon according to the RARA sheets. None of the other top guns in Sport are listed from the mornings session. Let's just say it's a shame there was a cut, as the same unofficial timers had him definitely on the + side of 400!

Thanks for the timely updates, Glider. Your hand timers are pretty good!

                OOPS,
The speed on the reported 400+ lap (quoted below) was calculated using the unlimited course chart, and the Sports apparently are qualifying on a shorter course. (1:13-ish looked like about 410-ish, when in fact it is about 350-ish.)

                Sorry for any confusion.
