  • Quakes around Stead

a whole lot of (little) shakin' going on...

According to the RGJ: "The strongest, at 4.2-magnitude, was registered at 3:55 p.m. about four miles northwest of Reno, the U.S. Geological Survey said. At 3:47 p.m., there was a 4.1 quake."

Hope nothing fell off any hibernating racers, or racers being built out at Stead....that is unless it was a maybe a belly scoop, slower than needed prop, or such like.

Maybe Allstate will help cover expenses on some new mods ya think?

    Re: Quakes around Stead

Epicenter about 12 miles from Stead. Sure felt "the big one" yesterday downtown tho!
There has been a cluster of shaking going on the past few weeks in the Verdi-Mogul area. Most real small but over the last week or so there have been as many as 40 in a day.
Go to http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/120-39_eqs.htm for the list.
Epicenters are all around 39.509°N, 119.990°W if ya want to google earth the location.

    Something is trying to move!

You all remember Victor saying he was going to be "out of country"......

          Errr...

Methinks perhaps the mothership has landed.....

I guess he'd get in trouble if he said "out of world"

I live just east of where the epicenter of a lot of the quakes are. I have been feeling every one of them. The two 4 pointers really were exciting

Havn't felt a thing in Cold Springs which is just a couple miles from Stead. There have been 65 microquakes recorded so far today, two at 3.3.
The epicenter for all of these is almost the same. Hmmmm...
If thats the softest landing Victor's alien tech can perform i'm disallusioned.

Have there been any secret engine tests on the "Rare Bear"?

                              Volcano? You guy's don't know VOLCANO'S!

May 18, 1980... we get up in the AM... and this is AFTER being dusted a couple times, and on the news.. well, you've all seen it!

ANY DAY the weahther is clear up here, you see this mountain, and the friggin top is GONE!!!!!!!

I went up there and watched it that Sunday morning in '80 and I still can't believe what I saw that day!

All of who live on this "third rock from the sun" are going to experince stuff, maybe, really shocking stuff in our lifetimes. As the "floating" surface of our planet moves about, it's gonna cause a lot of movin' and shakin' while it does it!

They recently (like, last week) discovered that our major fault up here in the PDX area, which is tied to the major coastal fault that'll kill Wayner, if he happens to be home when it hits, is, in all likelyhood, gonna be something like a 9+!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My condo is 8 freaking feet above sea level, it's about three blocks (in physical distance) from the coast... I hear it big time...

                              This sucker shakes...

I may have 10-15 mins to get my sorry arse to high ground!

Got a plan, does not involve swimming!

Beach is drivable, prolly could do 100 in my ol' chev 4x4... bout 3 mi south is high ground..

She shakes, I head TOWARD the water, there's one road in, one road outta here.. and the beach!!!!!!!!!

                              Ain't life FUN!!!!!!!!!!
