  • Marquart MA-4 Biplane

Saw an ad in Pacific Flyer for a "1964 Marquart MA-4 Biplane" being advertised as a "past Reno Gold winner". Anybody have any info on this?

I can't find any referance anywhere on a Marquart MA-4 flying at Reno, let alone winning.

Anybody have a pic of a Marquart MA-4?

The single place Marquart MA-4 was the "Lancer".
In 1966 Don Wickliffe, flying the Marquart based racer, #11 "Dollar Special", (built by Buck Dollar), was awarded first at Reno, after Bill Boland was penalized for a pylon cut. the winning speed was a blazing 147.7 mph.

        I've got a Kinert picture I can e-mail you if you'd like.

That is amazing the winning speed was that low.

#99, #89 and # 1 sure upped the bar in that class.
