Another good one is to line up on final approach, pull out the Pilot Operating Handbook and start leafing through it furiously in front of your passengers!!!

That's what we're here for.

My father had a destruct switch on the panel of his 310. It didn't have a big flashy red cover over it. The switch was just in line with other stuff like the landing lights and cabin heater. I used to love watching non-fliers body language when their eyes eventually landed on that switch.

Even better (and this is a true story) pull out the POH when you are taxiing out for takeoff and announce (truthfully) to all on board (5 pax) that you have never flown "one of these" (C206) before. No one wanted out, so I took off (Spokane) and flew to Portland (really nice landing). After parking and getting out of the plane, one of the pax commented that my "joke" wasn't very funny and had him worried throughout the flight. My comment, "What joke?"
