  • The BEAR.... russian that is.

    Subject, TU 95 prop speed.

Now that getting videos of various a/cs is EZ to view, Ive noticed that the film (video) frame speeds show various RPMs of the biggest props used on ac's.

Some videos show normal prop blurr and others show much slower rotational speeds. Both videos that i like show USAF chase planes, keeping the bear company (they are at similiar a/c angle of attacks, i.e speed for them is way down.)

What gives with these huge props (12,000 shp motors i believe)

Rated rpms, cruse speeds, cruse mileage and max speed... etc. and any technical data would be appreciated from any techi-prop guys.

    thanks,
    Bmarsh

I know a guy that used to chase Bears for the USAF. They would photo them to see if they could determine the prop pitch, then they could figure out how heavy the plane was. Then they would HOT NOSE the Bear and go home...D.
