  • Steadfast Race Prop Update

The race prop for Steadfast is completed and loaded on the truck. I will be delivering it to Santa Rosa tomorrow morning for installation. My thanks to all involved who helped make this a reality. We are looking forward to good things this year at Reno.

    Go Steadfast!

Thanks Wayne... and everyone else that stepped up. It's cool to think my little donation helped make it happen for Will.

                          Re: Steadfast Race Prop Update

In my DC-3 days we would use the wide blades on the short strip and ski work with the fine pitch stops set very fine to get good slowing, on take off you had to bring power in slow so gov would control the rpm, It would reference around 2400rpm at 30" in normal ops we set them to reference around 2200 rpm . On the airplanes that did very long legs we used the thin blades as they were faster but lost on take off performance . The point of this post is there was alot of prop drag by bringing the reference rpm up in a DC-3 going 80 kts . If I was was Will I would set the fine pitch stops as course as possible in case of gov or engine failer . I would try 1800 at 30" close to a normal cruise setting for a reference rpm . Good luck .
