    Please Get Your Facts Straight!

The races were postponed only long enough to clear the wreckage from the two accidents at stead today.

We were asked by RARA to NOT post the name of the pilot until they had an opportunity to inform the family personally.

The TV news was not so receptive to this as we were. I sincerely hope this was not posted before RARA had a chance to notify the family.

In the future, please, do not repeat TV garbage reporting done by people who don't know a prop spinner from a hubcap!

You know... the pilot says... "I lost an engine on takeoff"

    News reporter version..

    Engine falls off plane....

Please... be sure of your "facts" before you report garbage!

      TV reporting

Not only did some local TV channels identify the pilot but at least one Reno channel (News 4) reported the aircraft was a Thunder Mustang which of course it WAS NOT. I E-mailed Ch. 4 a very detailed explanation of their error so watch for a retraction of that at least.

        Settle down!

Chill out of wolfee just a little.

He only related what he read in a news paper posted on the internet.

For the most part it was correct, except for the part about the races being suspended.

We all are saddened about this incident, but this is a part of racing. Everyone knows when they come here that there is a chance they may not return home.

I always dreaded the races in a way. I did not want to have to drive all the way home to Texas without my pilot or aircraft. But, it was always in the back of my mind that this could happen.

I kiss my wife every morning and tell her I love her just in case one of our test flights goes bad and I don't get to see her or she gets to see me again.

Wolfee did not know what RARA requested, and he posted what he saw.

        Just and observation here.

          All AAFO readers.

I am sorry for posting a name of the pilot that was involed in a accedent today at the air races. I had no intention of interfearing.
My orignal post did not include any names, or type of air craft. After I read the name at all 3 of the TV news sights in Reno, did I go back and edit my orignal post to include a name, and type of air craft. Only news channel 4 had a type of air craft reported, and that is what I went by.
My sincere apologies to all involved.

              Gold heat race???

Does anyone know if the unlimited gold race was held after the sport class incidents??? I had to go to work and am in the dark. If they ran, what were the results?

              Thank you.

                  Thanks

Thanks for the update, working in the casinos lets me get out to the field daily, but I have to miss the unlimited gold daily also. I guess it could be worse.

                  Thanks again,

                  Jeff

Very sad news. Sometimes I am amazed that air racing has gone on as long as it has. With all the losses this year...makes you wonder.

                      Helpless feeling

I arrived Firday about 1:30PM and witnessed the accident. What I did not know was that I was standing right behind his wife when he went down. What a helpless feeling, she was just shaking. Thankfully there was someone there who knew her.
