      Re: Lou IV Crash

I hope this was NOT the same Lou IV that was at PRS. The young owner of that particular aircraft was very interested in the warbird movement and was looking forward to qualifying as a race pilot for next years races.

Unfortunately yes it was the same pilot of PRS. Not knowing details about the accident and if the name was released... it is a bad day for the sport for a gentleman who was going to go far in air racing in my mind. God Bless to wife and kids....

            Happend at Black Rock.

Damn! I was hoping that was not the PRS person as well. I have a 2nd hand account of the incident from the another CAF person but will refrain.

            Damn.

Here's a link to the crash in Camarillo. Not much info yet. I live about 5 miles from this airport and I didn't know this happened this morning.

The news just said he was 42. Way way too young to go.

But was he really a student pilot on his first solo flight as the article says?

Given today's insurance requirements, one can only assume they mean he was in transitional training to the Mustang (thus qualifying him as a "student") and this was his first supervised solo in-type.

Red Bull has no earthly idea what "air racing" is.

My account was a bit more colorful, but play by play was the same.
