  • NATO AWACS 25th Anniversary

This weekend here at Geilenkirchen Germany, NATO AWACS celebrated their 25th Anniversary as a unit. There was a decent variety of aircraft represented here. Everything for a 109G-6 to the Euro Fighter. I attached a couple of photos I took and even got one in there of a P-3 for speed.

To geek or not to geek? Hmmmmm... Nice pictures and thanks for the historical and technical contrast Eric. Ok, I'll geek because if I don't, well, Brad will....... I'm a former tube rat, just in case nobody else ever got that........ 2000+ crew hours in various models, P-3 A,B,C, C Update 1, C Update 2, and EP3A/B. The P-3 in your photo is actually a CP-140 Aurora. Canada's version of the P-3. I helped in the initial development of the tactical crew layout back in the late 70's when I was in Pax River as an AW Sensor 3 on P-3's. Still built by Lockheed though, not under license like a lot of the military aircraft operated by our Northern neighbors. Just a little interest story.
      Never mind. Maybe next year
