  • Unlimited Planes at PIR

    HI Everyone,

New poster but have been enjoying this site for years.

So my question is I have my little brother coming up for PIR next week, and am curious what unlimited planes will be flying. Last year was great when the bear wound it up, hoping for a repeat

For sure, although i have to agree that seeing bossman flying around is always a treat.

Anyone know of any other confirmed unlimited planes this year? Assume bear will not be flying given recent reports.

Don't forget dust and snow! What was it, '03 and '04, respectively?

The great dust storm was '02. The snow was the following year.

I'm not even 1000' above Stead and I got snow last night. Did'nt stick, but it's staying on the hills about 500' above my elevation. Nice to have all four seasons in a week...

Yeah, it's been pretty crazy here in Spokane and the PNW in general. I was in Boise last weekend and it was 95° on Saturday and pushing 100° on Sunday. It was 96° in GEG when I got back Sunday evening. Then it started dropping in temp. Lightning and cooler weather Monday, raining cats and dogs and mid 60's yesterday, and 39° when I jumped on the Beemer to go to work this morning. GLOBAL WARMING! What?........
                    Never mind. Maybe next year

And major snow at Stead in '84 or '85. Colder than a mother-in-law's kiss and wind too boot. The west hangars hadn't been built yet and there was nothing to slow the wind down. Was really fun adjusting valves out on the west end of the ramp, with blue fingers and snow blowing into your ears and eyes.

                          Re: Unlimited Planes at PIR

                          79 it snowed Sunday.
82 was rain most of the week.
Snow must have been 84, I remember a lot of rain early in 85 but the rest of the week was great (I have video from 85 but never developed pics from 84. And I'm gettin too old to remember it all)
89 it rained again....and on and on!
I've come to expect the changing weather here in September from years of coming to the races prepared for anything.
It snowed 6" memorial day last year so I guess it is'nt that strange, but globa WARMING my **s!
