What a double edged sword to see that. It was some of the best work I did and in the end to walk the debris field was the hardest thing I ever did.

Yes it's funny you mention that, after being primarily sad about Rick, I have always felt very sorry for him and he must have been shattered.

Yeah, exactly. The loss of Rick was the larger, "more obvious" loss to the racing community, and it kind of overshadowed the tremendous loss of this daring program - to the team, the team's owner, and again to the racing community. I think Mr. Pond's intentions were very well communicated in that video... he was trying to secure both our precious warbirds AND the (equally precious) future of air racing.

What caused the crash? Was it ever determined, if it had the potenial to go as fast as the Big Boys like Rare Bear etc? Thanks
