  • Sharp pointy things from Watsonville

Well, the cloudbase finally lifted for an hour or so at Watsonville yesterday afternoon, which allowed them to unleash this pair of hooliogans from nearby Monterey airport. They certainly must have woken the neighbours up!!!!!!

A real pleasure to see these two, especially as Harriers at UK airshows now seem to be a think of the past, at least for this year.

The claggy conditions for most of the day made for some interesting vapour effects.

More later in the week when I'm home again, these are just a few quickies from my laptop.

Saturday, *several* jet performers went IMC and came out of the clouds in un-welcome attitudes... Typical Watsonville weather though.

Show had a good line up of performers.

Mike - I'm sure my Guard Unit would like to see the shot you have of the Herc... Nice work!

Were you the guy at Chino with the monopod and cable release?

Did I see Terry Bland at the airshow saturday evening? Or was that someone else in a Dago jacket that said Terry on it?

Besides the cool jacket, he also owns Comfortably Numb - pictured on this thread.

I know Randy knows who it is.

By the way, that is Ron Runyon's old airplane, which raced @ Reno '88 by the Dwarf. It then went across the pond and was owned for many many years by David Gilmore, the guitarist/singer for Pink Floyd--hence the name of the aircraft.

We got to share a hangar with N51RR for a couple of days after its return from Chino in late 1985 and prior to being hangared at KHAO. It was Hangar #7 at KLUK, which at the time was leased by the late Jerry Swart. Jerry was a friend of Ray Dieckman, former owner/restorer of Corsair "Marine's Dream" and Bearcat N224RD. (N224RD appears to have been sold -- it's no longer listed with Courtesy.)
