  • Air Show reviews - Point Mugu

    Hey Gang,

I've been writing air show reviews for the Journal and I realized that other than my photography I've never shared them with you here on AAFO.
If you have a chance please give it a quick read and let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Thank you!

I have to keep these reviews short but I try to make sure all the performers are included and I do my best to research each one to add in something note worthy and positive.

I have been going to air shows all of my life and now I get a chance to give something back to the air show community for all the years I have enjoyed going to them.

GOD Bless all of you who fly and perform for the public.

PS. For his first year Spencer looked pretty good.

Good writing, victor - Nice and concise, covered the salient points of the airshow and some of the flavor without taking up too much space. If your job was to get me to consider attending next yrear, then you you accomplished your task.

        Victor,

        Your talents are amazing !
Storytelling through the lens (for the "earthlings"),and crisp, discriptive
writing. You managed to tell a full story (to a basic level for those not
into aviation) and keep it interesting. Better yet,you gave facts that do not need correcting or retracting !

        Quite refreshing.

Very nice job Victor. Doing this well is a lot harder than anybody who's never tried it would ever think...

I'll second all the opinions already posted, Victor. Very nice article and amazing photos (as always).
Pt. Mugu was the very first airshow I ever attended, back in 1987. Nice to see it's still going strong.

BTW, will you be doing an article on the POF Chino show? If so, I'm looking forward to reading it.

            Keep up the good work.

Victor's got a story on file here that, in-between annoying everyone with suspsnse and hoopla/hyperbole, I'm working on..

Will try to get it out later today..

Thanks Neal, and to everyone else too...
I do put a lot of research into what I write. Sometimes I end up with five to six pages of info and trying to cut it down to less than one and make it flow without being too choppy, not so easy. Also because I cover a lot of shows local to Southern California the performers are the same. I end up reviewing previous articles to try and not duplicate what I have written before and still provide something of interest to the (average) reader.

Any way, I'm just trying to see if there is something either more or less that I can do, to what I write, considering the limited space I can use and that it needs to be directed toward a more novice group of aviation fans

I will be doing reviews for the following shows: Chino, Gillespie, Ramona, Grass Valley, Camarillo, Reno, Los Alamitos and Nellis. Also photo coverage from MCAS Yuma (Aggresors), PRS and The Gathering of Mustangs.
EEK!!! Did I mention I'm going to Egypt???
