  • Minter Air Show Photos

Unfortunately with a change in the weather and the shifting sun the afternoon was extremely bad for photography. They really need to change the schedule and put the bulk of the warbirds up much earlier in the day. Almost every time that I have been to the show a good portion of the crowd leaves before the fighters and bombers go up. Also because of the way the sun shifts late in the day it's directly behind the aircraft flying and it's harsh for everybody. If the show started an hour and a half earlier and ended and hour sooner I think it would workout much better for every one! I do like this show but it needs change.

That would Be Al Goss master of the Warlock.

I'll have to tell you guys to be up with Al Goss in Warlock and Eddie Van Fossen in Miss TNT was way too awesome! Two of Reno's best T-6 pilots! If I didn't take the photos to see for myself I'd be telling myself I just had one hell of a bitchen dream.....

Geez, give Victor a break. He can't be everywhere.

Once they were airborne Strega never got close to the T-6's and the Mustangs weren't carrying unessential passengers as they departed for home after thier passes.

They really need to change the schedule and put the bulk of the warbirds up much earlier in the day.
I do agree with Victor. Start the show earlier and move the warbirds up before noon. Staring into the sun at a formation that included a Zero, P-40, Hellcat, and Corsair was no fun.

Victor, I feel the same way having had the honor to be in back with Tom Dwelle at Nellis a few years back. Being Tom's "rear view mirror" and being able to say over the intercom "annnnd here comes Al" to which Tom replied "THANNKS" and gave it more smash (which I thought we already had it all hanging out) leading to the photo finish of the "race" demo..

Phew! Pinch me, I gotta be dreaming!

Awesome as always Victor, and agreed about the sun. Was that you I saw at the show with the Warlock shirt with the pic of one of your pilot and plane montages? And your son was with you with a very large lens like yours?

Ok, I'll ask the $1M question. Tiger has Strega up in the air, it's almost May, what does this mean regarding the prospects of Strega on the ramp in September?

Please, please, someone say something good. How about it Missileer?

                          I'd say about 50/50 chance.

Victor: "So Tiger what are your plans for Reno?"

Tiger: "That motor (stock) that's in there now is gonna stay. We'll just go up there and cruise around and hopefully I can make the Bronze"

Victor: "Bronze?, bullsh!t Tiger, I've seen you win silver with a wounded transport motor"

Tiger: Gives me a wink, Laughs and walks away with a big grin on his face.

Thanks Victor for the first-hand report. I'm easily pleased, if Tiger says he'll be there in September, that's half the battle. Maybe as we get closer to September the stock motor might mysteriously disappear and be replaced by one with a few more horses.....
