After he changes the plug, he gets back in the cockpit and washes his hands. Then he walks out on the cowl and jumps on the prop. He grabs the wheel axle and climbs back inside then gets back on the controls. He's good man. . . real. . . . ly good! Typical old school mechanic. Wonder if Goss has ever done this?

Re: any body know this guy?

There is a great scene in "Never Cry Wolf" where the Beaver they are flying quits. The pilot says "here hold the wheel" and climbs out on the gear leg, clears a fuel line, climbs back in and restarts. Great stuff.
I had an uncle that used to run his tanks dry on cross country's to get every last drop out of them. Even rocked the wings a little when pressure started to drop. I was only with him once when he had it quit.
He flew B-25's out of Italy in WW2 and every airliner till the late 70's without a single incident. Sometimes I wonder how...

He just reaches forward and gives it a flip (downward). With the added help from the slipstream it takes right off. BTW - It is not at all uncommon to prop a Cub from behind, especially when the pilot is by himself (saves tying the tail down, untying, etc.).

I think I'd rather stay belted in and just put the nose down and dip the left wingtip and torque the prop over....ha ha.....

Float flyers do it that way too.

Re: any body know this guy?

I first learned to "prop" our Mooney Mite when I was about 9 or 10 years old. Stand on right hand side in front of the wing, reach in and turn the key on (prime if required) adjust the throttle, lean forward while holding onto the canopy rail and pull down on the prop.

She would not start rolling if the throttle was set right and if problems arose, you jumped up on the wing walk and climbed into the cockpit and applied the brakes.

                      Didn't all kids learn this?

Naw, it's in Never Cry Wolf. Brian Dennehy (sp) is the pilot.
