  • Corsair -- From the Wingman archives...

Does anyone else besides me ever get a little nostalgic twinge when they think back to the era when we could always count on some Corsairs in the Unlimited field?

I'm trying to think...must have been 1984, the year that there were four Corsairs in the field. Planes of Fame's #1 Super Corsair, Buck Ridley's #37 Big Richard, Don Davis'#82 Wart Hog, and Bob Guilford's #93 Blue Max.

That was the year that Mike Wright was qualifying Wart Hog and would 'fire the guns' as he would pass the pylons. Of course, that was also the year that Wright dressed up in his 'Kaptain Kaos' superhero outfit and walked the pits.... :-)

Thanks for the pics. The Corsair is my favorite plane.

What's the plane down low? Looks like a Mustang but I can't see it well enough. He is flying low out there.

Thanx for the photo, Corsair always has a unique look to it.

That's Jimmie McMillian in a Skyraider.

Now this guy, along with the likes of Skip, Tiger, Lyle etc, had one of those great air racing names...
