  • Anyone know what this is #2

The beginning of last month I posted a couple of pictures of a part that came out of the cockpit of a MIG that was in a boneyard in Afghanistan. This came out of the same cockpit. Anyone know?

The Mig was designed as a recreational aircraft with tons of luxury appointments aimed at providing the pilot all the essentials for 'creature comforts.

The part you have shown is the control module for the Mig's built in Shiatsu Massage unit. The unit was so effective it eventually became the model incorporated into massage chairs they sell at Costco

Additionally, the correct combination of switch settings converted this unit into the 'Function Control Module' for the onboard video games and flight simulator.

It's as simple as that. If the unit is still functional, it should be installed on Stu Eberhardts Merlins Magic so he can enjoy rounding the pylons in style this year!

I think I saw this in Popular Mechanics a long time ago.

The artical was on the breakout of a hand held wireless phone that you can take anywere. But they thought it was cost prohibitve.

They also thought it would be way to confusing for the general public to multi task while talking on the phone and made some predictions to the efect. But this is were my memory fails me, I cannot remember the accual numbers they came up with.

This piticular phone was one of Motorola's very first prototypes!

Good find! You should hold on to it for a while. the value of this item will only go up, up up!

Obviously not a phone, not enough buttons (no 0, *, or #). "Up, up, up" is spot on though. This is clearly a control panel for an elevator. Note the empty lamp sockets and missing "UP" - "DOWN" lenses.

Actually, I work with some engineers who are former residents of the Soviet Union, and they tell me it is a Code Entry Panel for entering arming codes for nuke's. And, get this, one of them claims to have invented it .

This set the volume of the "Dynamo Hum" unit...sorta like the firmness setting on one of those fancy beds.

Its either an Illudium Pyew-36 Explosive Space Modulator, or a tool for detecting Illudium Phosdex (the shaving cream atom). In either case it makes me very angry. Very angry inDEED!
