        Re: Flying solo!!!!!

Felt kind of strange looking at that empty seat beside/behind/in-front of you didn't it?

Congrats Scepter! I'll never forget looking into the empty back seat on my first crosswind turn...

Its that part where the airplane takes off alot sooner than you expected...................and then you suddenly think, damn I'm committed now!!!

Congrats. I remember when I soloed at 16. Nothing ever comes close to that feeling of freedom. May the remainder of your training be as much fun.

I add my congrats as well, you'll remember that moment the rest of you're life, now you really ARE a pilot! I just had my first "solo" as a 744 captain but it all began in a J-3 cub on Earl Matter's farm whenl
my instructor, Vern Finzer, UAL DC-8 captain , had me land on Earl's grass strip he had between his cornfields in Ill and said he had to get out and pee, so "just take it around for 3 touch and goes then stop and pick me up". I was so surprised I did as I was told but I never saw Vern pee! This in May 1966 and I even remember the smell of the J-3 engine! Welcome to the brotherhood !

Wow, does that bring back memories. It was amazing how potent a C-65 powered Cub felt when I left 180 lbs of instructor behind.

                        Congratulations on your first solo!
