  • Pick the next Air and Space cover

You can pick the next cover of air and space Magazine. One of them pertains to air racing!

I voted for the race cover, although I must admit the other photo option looks better.

A glance at current poll results say others agree. C'mon race fans...get over there and vote!

I voted for Mary D., although I agree that the other cover is pretty cool too. Anyone recognize the two planes in that photo?

Looks like a Hellcat and... somethingcat. The top plane looks different. Like a cross between a wildcat and bearcat.

It's a Wildcat and a Hellcat. Which one of them is the last one?! The Wildcat is a Pratt&Whitney powered one looks different than the Wright FM-2's.

They are an F6F Hellcat- and an F4F Wildcat.
The Wildcat is one of the bird recovered from Lake Michigan and I think it recently became part of the new museum at Pearl Harbor...
Which would make it this one:
The Grumman F4F Wildcat registry follows the history of all Wildcats that survived military service.

The F6F is the one that Art Vance lost his life in last year:
This site tracks the history of all Grumman F6F Hellcats that survived military service.

Well there is no question on who I voted for.

Having missed this year, I'm REALLY looking forward to next year. Mary and the team will be back and going for GOLD....
