  • Reno Pylon pins

Does anybody know the history of the blue Nevada pylon pins? I know that they used to be made by the Jaycees. I've got every one since my first Reno-1991. I've seen one that had 2 planes on it, but didn't catch what year it was from. I was just curious about when they started, and what other ones were made.

Mine go back to 78 and they are all single plane.
They change the planes color every year and the planes design every 4 (or 5? I dont have them with me...)

The ones with two airplanes were from the 20th anniversary. There may have been other occasions they did that too, however.

The pin for 2000 was bigger than normal and had 2-0-0-0 written out vertically on the pylon whereas other years just had the 2 digit year on the bottom of the pylon.

The pylon pins date back to 1977 (not date on that one).

1996 was the year that the Jaycees logo disappeared from the pin, unless you pre-ordered them. Then you have a rarity on your hands if yours has the logo.

            Hope this helps.

              Re: Reno Pylon pins

The pylon pins were first produced in 1977.

The '77 pin DID NOT have a year on it.

The Jaycees logo appeared on the pins until 1995.

If you were lucky enough to pre-order your pins for '96 they came thru with the logo, however, the ones sold at the show since then have not had the JC logo.

              Hope this helps.
