    Odd

You can still book via the Hilton website.

A quick search produced the following

    Harrah's Closes Reno Hilton Sale
    23 June 2006

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) said today that the previously announced sale of the Reno Hilton hotel-casino to Grand Sierra Resort Corp., and certain gaming assets to an affiliate of the Navegante Group, has closed.

Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. is the world's largest provider of branded casino entertainment through operating subsidiaries. Since its beginning in Reno, Nevada 68 years ago, Harrah's has grown through development of new properties, expansions and acquisitions. I hope they still honor bookings.

Looks like it will be caled "Grand Sierra Resort"... www.renohilton.com forwards to a new site for grandsierraresort.com. I had heard for awhile that they were going to make part of the hotel into condos and it appears so from the new website.

        Re: no more Hilton

I'm not worried about them honoring the bookings, which they probably will until they start the remodel to condos. You can get the packet of proposed suites and features at the office in the lower level. I did when I attended PRS.
My concern is the uncertain future of the Pylon Bar and all the air race memorabilia that has been donated over the years. If it should not maintained, then the items need to be rescued, and possibly returned to RARA for preservation, until such time as the RARA Foundation initiates its' plan for an air racing museum.

Ok, so since we don't really know the future of the Pylon bar, and it's really been a traditional meeting place in the past, we need to schedule an "Official" AAFO night! Everyone from this board that can make it should make it a priority to be there, since it might be the last at this place. I'd say maybe Saturday night. What does everyone else think?

I think that would help notify the hotel operators of our interest and support for the pylon bar.

This is a very good point. If the Grand Sierra does decide to tear it out, it would be a true shame. What can we do?

So far as AAFO night, I had a few beers there last night.
You'll get your chance, smart guy!

                    Re: no more Hilton

I work at GSR (grand sierra), and they have no plans to change the bar for at least a couple of years. Priority is converting half the rooms to condo/hotel rooms wich will be rented out as hotel rooms when the owner isn't staying at the hotel. They have already started building Ashton kutchers (Demi Moores husband, Kelso from seventy show) restaurant. The water parks will go in next. As far as we have been told, the bar will remain the same. I think we should show our support for the bar anyway we can.

Aren't you too young to be hanging out at the Pylon Bar?

With enough people there, no one will notice besides I don't have to actually sit at the bar.

I should be there, plan to stay at the Hilton (assuming they honor the booking that is).

Yeah, with me! It was nice to meet a fellow "Addict" in the only bar like it. It was nice chatting with you Nick.
