  • Fire in Reno

Thought I would share. I am in Reno until Sept 5. Watched this fire go from 5-2000 acres in a few short hours. It's even in the cable news news lines. And yes, it is the back side of Peavine, (south side). Cheers

It's looking pretty controlled today. Just got back from flying in the area, and it seems like they are doing a great job.

Thats something for all of the fencline campers to keep in mind - especially those that decry the rules about open fires and other flames on-site. The fire went from less then five acres to over 5000 in a little less than 90 minutes, If I remember last nights news.

No, but there's plenty of dry brush and tumbleweeds out there that burn like gasoline if it gets started.

No campfires, and no barbecues allowed. Only camping stoves please. The rangers pass thru there on occasion to make sure folks follow those guidelines.
