  • A feeler for The Healer

One of the most interesting entries this year is Bill Rheinschild with P-51 race 39, "The Healer".

What is the real story here? The original race 39 debuted in 1983 with impressive speeds for a stocker qualifying 11th at 398.184 and finishing second in the Silver at 397.162. It won the Silver the next year. I don't believe in its 11 year career at Reno (didn't race there in 1985) those speeds were ever beaten.

Today N6175C is N514DK, 45-11558 with DK Warbirds of Las Vegas or Los Angeles(Dick Pack, Kevin LaRosa) and is a gleaming polished aluminum beauty in factory fresh markings in the latest photos I've at least seen.

So the question is if this entry this year is indeed the same airplane or not? Who can confirm and who has a recent photo?

One would have to ask is their a hidden story here?

Well the real story is "qeiryneo oewp oewqnvx 38v.s 9e ewq" and that is all I am "allowed" to say. Should be fun though....

The real story is, Bill Rheinschild (me) and a guy name John Mc Kittrick have purchased DK Warbirds and will bring the plane to Reno this year if Pete Regina can fix the radiator.
John Mc Kittrick is having the famed Sanders brothers build him the finest Sea Furry and it is under construction and should be at Rookie School next June with young John himself at the controls.

        that's the straight stuff.

Just a remider to all the Unlimited entrants. Many are still on the "conditional list" At last count there were 17 conditional with 13 openings. I strongly suggest everyone getting their information or payments in so we can have a full field this year.

Hey Rhino I have a little something for ya to hang in your pit. 77 inch span with a YS supercharged 4-stroke in it. It will have the current markings of 117. Myself and Dwayne Dull have been building it.

Re: A feeler for The Healer

Here is the Skip Holm in the Healer in a good race with Lefty. My memory is that they were contesting third place on Saturday, 84. Checking the database at airrace.com, shows Lefty had problems in 84, so it might be 83.

Victor, that first shot is simply amazing. The second is not bad either.

Wow, I guess I'm NOT seeing things.... photographic evidence of someone flying lower than Lefty!

The only thing missing is the song of that engine on Take-off power.
Yea, I need a "fix" real bad!
