  • A Wingman Quiz...

    O K Boys and Girls...

Race #67 here actually has quite a significant place in modern Air Racing history! Who can tell us what this significance is??

As usual the Fabulous (not so) Furry Geek Brothers are for the moment excluded from this exercise...

Outstanding! After 1 hour and 10 minutes we have a winner. This was Howard Pardue's first attempt at Air Racing, 27 years ago. He has raced 4 airplanes over the years, from the bottom of the Bronze to the middle of the Gold, and it all started with #67...

      Well done Shawn.

Shawn, I'm afraid all you get is our congratulations, and a late Happy Birthday from me...

Here's another chance, though. Here is Howard's Bearcat some time after the above event. Name the event, location and year. And for a bonus prize (more congratulations), what is that shape under the left wing???

You are on a roll tonight Shawn...

Unfortunately I only have the gorilla mask in black and white, and I don't have a flatbed scanner. That one's gonna have to wait for another time.

                        Re: A Wingman Quiz...

Good question -- He's had a whole bunch of Corsairs -- at least one was crash landed after engine failure and I think I remember at least one being sold back in the late 80s...

Maybe some of our Texas friends might know.

I think he sold that Corsair to the Evergreen museum in 1990 or so. I seem to recall them flying it around along with a P-40K at about the same time.

"Maniyak" had a Chicken and a Commie Pig also.

Howard has no Corsairs at this time, he sold the damaged one a couple of years ago. Fury, the Bearcat and the Wildcat are the only [WOW only] three big planes he has left.
