  • Da Bear

Hello to all. It was great meeting Wayne today.

Here's just a few pics for the Bear fans out there.

I do have to say that the Bear looked great, and sounded even better. The people next to me were timing the Bear at just over 1 minute on the course today. That's got to be around what? say 450ish

Ah, the old "loose vs. tight R-3350 thread"! A little oil goes a long way...

From the East end of the aluminum bleachers watching the Bear.
The first hot lap under power past 7/8 heading for the home pylon
she went a little over vertical. The next lap dead on!!

The man has no fear!! Guys there is a "Race Pilot" in the Bear!!!

Ron thought to himself: "So that's what fast means!"

Sounds like he was behind on the turn and had to pull HARD to stay inside the deadline. More Gs = fewer knots. Or, wake turbulence...

                          Re: Da Bear

The Bear just POURS oil out. In the taxi and takeoff shots I took it looks like black stripes running down from the wing. In the passes she just gradually turns golden brown...
That plane gets downright filthy! Hats off to the crew that has to clean her.
I'm not as quick posting as some of you, will get to it.
My impression was that by the last laps Sunday Ron had it pretty much dialed in.
Will and Steadfast looked like they had been doing this forever.
Good times! Wish I had run into a few more of you.

Or, as Bruce Boland used to refer to her....Lyle Shelton's "Oil Cat". Gotta love that 'externally lubricated' -3350!
