Re: Speed TV fans asking for Air Race coverage

I've been hitting my friends up at SPEEDTV about this for a couple years. The simple fact of the matter is that FOX owns SPEEDTV, they also own the rights to televise NASCAR. Their only interest is to make money, so they cater to the trailor park crowd, and that's what they want to see. (And I seriously don't mean any of that in a derogatory way) Although they've tried (almost) 24 hour NASCAR programing, it didn't work out so well. So, they added shows like "Pinks" and other automobile centered programs to keep the NASCAR crowd entertained between NASCAR races. We were extremely lucky to get the Rare Bear live feed on Dave Dispane's show in 2004. For SPEEDTV to show an air race program, it would have to be a self financed, self produced program, and you'de have to pay to have it aired, much like an infomercial. It sounds harsh, but SPEEDTV doesn't care about speed, racing, worlds fastest motorsport, or anything other than protecting their investment.

There are air racing fans at SPEEDTV and I'd LOVE to see coverage on that channel. I still hold out hope that cooler heads will prevail! I would suggest that everyone reading this post, sign up on the SPEEDTV message board and tell them what we want to see, and that we WILL buy Eagle 1 car products, Budweiser beer, Tide laundry detergent, and we'll join the Army, Fly Southwest, and use Viagra, and whatever other product they push as long as we can see some air racing! Everyone knows the saying (come on, say it with me) Money talks and Bull $h1t walks! Let's prove to them there's a money paying audience out there!

Nah LPKid, no offense taken! the Trailor park thing was their words, not mine. I'd really have to classify myself in that same demografic! I've been on SPEEDVISION when they used to run the AMA series every Tuesday. They still run the top AMA classes, but I'm too beatup to compeat anymore. I don't watch it that much because there's only so many times I can watch the 1974 Daytona 500. Apparently there's still a huge crowd for that race though. Bigger than any air race according to them.
