What happened to that P-51G? Any advantage to running that 5 bladed prop?

I believe that it is the Whittingtons P-51H with the long delayed experimental prop from Germany that did not work so well. I could be wrong though.

Did the Red Baron have 3 2-bladed props?

Nope. It had two-three bladed counter-rotating props.

I believe its contra-rotating, no big deal though. I used to say counter until someone in the know corrected me.

                  Counter/contra =opposite against, together,

                  Accordingto my dictionary.

Counter-rotating is as applied to a twin engine such as a Piper Navajo to avoid having a "critical" engine. (Downward-direction blade always inboard.) While a contra-prop is two props on concentric shafts, as with a Griffon or the Bugatti Racer -- or the Russian "Bear" bomber.
