Note that the mustangsmustangs pic only shows the left wing with two inlet slots. The right wing only had a single slot if I recall correctly.

Later they switched to a boil-off system, and the wing slots were sealed, as seen in the pictures on the following page...

There are also a few photos in the (current) link "70's and 80's race photos link" by Jarrodeu.

Reply #2 has the "goods." Here's the link (from that reply):

Scroll down to just past the dual Corsair photos.

I belive that the plane belonged to Bill Ross (RG, do you remember?) and was flown by RAF ace Jerry Billings.

I can't access the picture from work to see

If it was the one that did the "dogfight" routine with Bubba Beal's HA-1112, it was flown by Jerry Billings, Woodson K Woods owned the late Mr. Ross's ex Spitfire (N8R) at that time- can't recall if it was that one or Cliff Robertson's.....Geez its only been 25 years ago you geek. Nope, you're spot on as always, bro. Woody Woods owned it. USED to be owned by Bill Ross.

The one that Cliff Robertson used to own was a Mk. 9...and it is currently on static display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

It is indeed the ex-Woodson K. Woods' Mk.XVI, SL721, still flying and now with Michael Potter in Canada. As a Phoenix area resident since 1979 I have many fond memories of SL721 as well as the TMk.IX that Mr. Woods owned for a time. (now with Bill Greenwood in Colorado)
