  • Who Buzzed Napa in a Yak Yesterday?

I'm not sure who it was but they looked good and sounded great. It was around 1pm. They did about 4 figure 8s over town and headed back west again. The paint job looked to be Black with perhaps a red lightning bolt down the sides (couldn't tell exactly).

That might have been the one, it was really hard to tell, the lighting was really flat. He was also pushing the speed limit at about 500 ft. It was a 2 seat. I wish I had my camera at the time.

That would be Grass Valley, NV. I'm almost heart broke that there will not be an air show there this year....
There may be an "unannounced" warbird gathering ?somewhere? within the valley. Details coming later

No Grass Valley this year?!! That was such a great show!!

Man, where have all the airshows gone?

I had to be in Los Angeles the weekend of the Mather Airshow. I hated that! The Blues flew right over my house a bunch of times on the Friday before the show, that was cool (but still prefer the T-Birds to the Blues) I haven't seen any photos or reports from how that show went though.

Mather was good. I went on Sunday, heard there were LOTS of problems with traffic on Saturday. Big crowds both days, the Blues did a good show, some nice warbird flybys (Tony Banta's beautiful P-51, a Bearcat, a Wildcat, and a P-40), the Dwelle's had their T-6 "Kitchen Pass" on display, Julie Clark did a nice routine in her T-34. They even lucked out with the weather..it was the only clear and dry weekend we've had in over a month! Hope they bring the show back next year, it was nice having one so close.
