  • Greenamyer racer needs a sponsor

In the latest Air Classics there is a half page article on Greenamyer's racer. (pg. 16) There is also a picture of the partially completed racer. It's the first picture I have seen of the racer.

For those of us who don't subscribe to the afore mentioned and over priced mag, which racer are you talking about?

That would be the long-promised, yet long-dormant "Shockwave".

Things kind of hit a snag after the Kee Bird went down about a decade ago...and it's just been shuffled back and forth since then.

Was there a documentary done on the B-29 project? Was it any good?

Yes, NOVA did a special on it for PBS. It was very well done.

I played it once for my Dad and younger bro without telling them the outcome of the effort. They were stunned! I still have the Smithsonian article on the recovery effort. As stupendous as it was tragic.

It was not only very well done, it was a heartbreaker in more ways than one!

Extremely good show if you can find it somehow, watch it!

Anyone have any other photos of Shockwave?

I thought it was supposed to have a 4360 but it says that it will have a 3350 like Mat Jackson's racer. Which engine will be installed (if ever)? It doesn't look like a big enough airplane to hold a 4360.

Maybe the picture of the CAF Zero in the March issue of Air Classics, page 16, is actually the"Shockwave" in disguise. The Zero with a P&W 4360 in it would probably be a Gold contender. I taped the B29 story & if I run across it again I would glady sell it to anyone that wants to buy it E-Mail me with an offer.

They were showing and selling copies of the Nova video at Greenamyer's merch table last year. As Tim Adams said to me: "You'd think they wouldn't want to be reminded of that." I guess they've come to terms with the salvage attempt by now.
