Very nice looking model, but.....$42 to ship a 14" span model in a 4 pound package? Isn't that unusually high, or is that normal for carved models like this?

Maybe that has something to do with the high shipping cost.

And this kinda brings up something else... when I was stationed at Travis AFB, CA I had a contact that could get models similar to this in any configuration wanted as long as you could provide a few good photo's. You want a Rear Bear model for your desk, no problem. Dago Red, No problem. David Hoover's Arnold AR-6 (which is a sweet looking airplane)... no problem. I never took him up on any of the offers. Maybe I should look him up...
