      2. Visit the Air & Space Museum in D.C....for the first time...
      3. Make sure I get to the Nevada County Air Show and hope that Ellsworth Getchell shows up with his Sea Fury...
      4. Finally make it out to the fenceline at Reno..and...
      5. Work more on my prop blur technique!

      Good thread, Victor!

Prep Unlimited Race 2, Wildcat so we can go from last place at Reno 05 to first in the gold for Reno 06.

I resolve to fly the race course upright, not inverted, in 2006.

Ok dudes and babes happy new year 2006 !

              1. I try to get my codein usage level under Howard Hughes dozes.
              2. Built an actually flying model of my racer designs ( maybe the twin ).
              3. Try to enlarge the " germfree " zones in my apartment ( do more cleaning that is ).
              4. Get my butt into Reno to see the races from real close.

              Happy Holidays !

Hmmmmm.....lets think about this. You could take the birdcage canopy off and replace it with a one-piece 'teardrop' shape that blends into the turtledeck. Composite cowling over a bigger engine (late model -2800, if it'll fit) with a down-draft carb setup installed. Big composite spinner. Clip at least 3 feet off each wing. Might want to also consider taking the wing-folding mechanism/locks out of it too, and giving it the 'Kerch treatment'.

And most certainly you've got to put in an electrical system to raise and lower the gear. No self-respecting race pilot should have to hand crank the gear up on climb-out!

All that...and you might be able to bring it up to about...oh...350 or so. :-)

And no one has even mentioned world peace. Sorry, I thought this was practice for the Miss Universe offerings. OK, did anyone catch the part where Kevin stated "finishing the second NXT". No one bit on that one. I am appauled! So I will bite. OK, Kevin what are your plans for the second NXT and will you have time to make any sizeable mods for Relentless for 06? I am going to have to get back with my 05 resolutions, but I know one of them will be to run down Victor so the rest of us have a chance with our photography Sorry Vic.

Think it would take a 4360, probably have to move Tom back into the tail....

speeddemon, I've run the calculations on your suggested mods and I only come up with a course speed of 323.68 MPH. As to your mod of replacing the hand crank gear with an electric motor, this adds unnecessary weight that we're trying to avoid. Besides, it give's Tom something to do during take off and landing. Otherwise, he starts playing with the knobs and levers in the cockpit.

Our current plan right now is to borrow the XR 7755 from the NASM for the Wildcat and install a 'BIG' Nitrous bottle in the tail to keep the c/g within limits. The problem we have right now is where to get a 9 blade prop that we'll need to absorb the horsepower. As a last resort, I'll have to carve a 9 blade prop from the finest Phillippine Mahogany that I can find. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a large quantity of X-acto knife blades?

                            Just one - quit smoking

Wife unit is going in next month for hopefully her last surgery on her re-broken clavicle... and they won't do that without her being smoke free. Just supporting the one I love, as well as taking the long needed step so that I can enjoy what time I have left on this rock as long as possible. In short, it's time

Oh, see...I think I must have misplaced a decimal point or something when I was calculating the speed on the modifications.
