    Re: Check this out

Amazing that engines scaled down that accurately can actually run, with all the tiny gears and rockers and all. So many little parts to break.

I wonder if that 1/5 scale merlin in the video can generate enough HP to propel a 1/5 scale Mustang....and if those motors are too expensive to even consider trying it in an RC (heh heh).

They certainly are beautiful. Especially the Eagle 22. The Ghost runs too eh?

Pretty amazing! Too bad someone can't do this on a full scale basis at a cost effective price schedule!

        Well,

Looked like the engine died after 20 seconds of running....did it overheat or just run outa fuel ?

Very pretty engine indeed..sound was odd. I think they have a whole lotta gremlins to be sweeped of from that Rolls Royce still.

I could show you the pic of a 1/4 scale Me 109 that is missing a 1/4 scale engine.

It is not this, altough this is neat too:

Still looking for the new Me 109 G-6, hang on a sec.

It looked like he turned the scale Merlin off to me.

I found more pics of the 24-cylinder Eagle model at another website. A masterpiece in metal...

Doesn't this just grave for an ( mini DB 601 ) engine ?

HOLLY ... did you check out their website with all the photos? That plane is amazing. I wonder what they are going to power it with though.... with that much attention to detail on everything else I woudn't be surprised if a scale engine went on it.

                          Re: Check this out (translation)

That means: They still have some headaches regarding the engine.
If possible, they intend to use a 2 cylinder in-line engine, hidden in
a hull with the shape and outer appearance of a DB 605. So they´ll
need a reduction gearing for sure.

Anyway - an impressing project. The only thing that makes me feel a
little strange is, that people who can do THAT work, also could use their
time and money to build a real plane to fly in. But if they are happy with
a model, it´s fine for me too.

I'm with you, I expressed the same sentiment on a different thread. I personally don't get it. If not a real airplane, then help restore one of the many projects gathering dust in museum basements.
I just left it with "different strokes...."
