  • Air Race models (painted wood)

Hey Wayne, a quick question. I was searching for air race models and came across a site by Aero Select. I e-mailed them and asked about air race models. The only thing they sent me back was a response of, "Thank you for your interest go to AAFO for more information."

I can't find anything on your site? Can you clarify...

Hummn Will.. nope.. Though I appreciate them giving us the plug, I'm not sure what they mean.

A lot of things are going to happen/change around here in the coming year... one of which will be a "web store" and we're looking at what we can put on the "shelves" of said store.. so, maybe I need to contact them and see what can be worked out?

Personally, I love models, but have little time or patience to build them... Having an easy source to find and purchase accurate air racer models would be fantastic... hummn...

Wish there were about 36 hours in every day

Back to the project I'm on ....

They are 1/72 scale diecast. nothing to build.
You can order them from HobbyLink Japan (http://www.hlj.com). Search for Kyosho, then find props.
      There around $60.00 ea.

          DieCast Air Racers

I see they are still out of stock and backordered. Are they ever replenished?

            Wooden Models (Painted)

I have supplied detail photos of unlimited racers for a company out of Kansas. The name of the company is Anderson Scale Replicas. They have had a booth at Reno in the past, but I have not seen them for the past couple of years. What are you looking for if I may ask? They have racers like The Bear, Miss Ashley II, Dreadnought, Strega and I beleive I have the only model of Voodoo with race mods. I do not have their address and you may have to do an internet search. Good luck.

              Wood Air Race Models

A company called Griffin Aerospace in Ft Worth, TX aquired the assets of Anderson Fine Scale Models about 18 months ago. Anderson produced a line of very nice wooden Air Race replicas - many from the Reno Air Races. (Griffin actualy produced most of Andersons inventory overseas).

At any rate, Mr. Lynch can visit the Griffin site at griffinaerospace.com and get a feel for the range of products they offer. They don't list all of the Reno Air Racers in their on-line catalog, but if he calls the contact number, Fred Griffin will be happy to let him know what he has or can get hold of in short order. I have 2 terrific models in my office of the Bear and Strega (personal favorites). The models are of very nice quality. I am not sure of the scale but the wing-span is roughly 15" on each.

1/72 scale die cast air race models

hattend -- I order about 2 weeks ago and just got e-mail that they are being shipped. Evidently all are in stock, even though website says out of stock on Rare Bear and Tsunami. I will post again after new year & after recieving them.

                Hattend
I received all six. Packaged well, USPS so not left on front porch. I sent cashiers check per instructions instead of Paypal.
They look real good, just like the website pictures.
It appears they are just a little smaller when I compared Hoovers Yellow Mustang to the 1/72 Corgi Mustang.

I bought two (Strega (old paint) and Miss Ashley II from Anderson a long time ago. When they went out of business I thought I was done. Thank you dwave for the information. After the Holidays I will call Mr. Griffin and see what I can get next.

                  Happy Holidays, Will R. Lynch

                    Wooden Air Race Models

                    You are very welcome, sir.

Any friend of Air Racing - any era - is a friend of mine. Historians are wont to say ... "We are what we were." Whether we are talking about what we have today as contemorary exemplers of the sport (The Reno Air Races) or what we may concieve of tomorrow, we are still driven by the appreciation and love of all that has, and who have, gone before.

Here's to Air Racing ... and Miss Ashley ... and Gary. And all the Boys & Girls of September.

                    Happy Holidays to you.

                    Dwave
