It looked smoky last night while on my quest for pizza, but WOW, woke this AM to very smoky conditions! California's "Valley Fire" has the Reno area pretty well choked as of this hour.. As mentioned in another thread, looks like phone photos are too large to upload.. Attempted to change the settings with no initial success...

    Photo to follow....

6pm Monday. There are numerous fires in CA now. In the San Francisco Bay Area, winds are going to be from the South on Tuesday and Wednesday which will push the smoke North. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...U5XK-qJQ&hl=en

Can somebody find the link to the current fires in CA which show the size, location and percent contained?

Here is the page from the inciweb site, showing fires in CA with the largest first. Why is the "Valley Fire" missing?

"Charlene Albee, Division Director for the Air Quality Division for the Washoe County Health District. “It's really bad, unfortunately we've got three large fires that are burning West and Southwest of us.”

And the National Weather Service in Reno tells us the winds are moving exactly out of that direction into Northern Nevada.

Meteorologist Jim Wallmann explains. “We have an area of low pressure coming in that's responsible for the increase in the winds,” says Wallmann. “That would normally help to disperse the old smoke but it's also going to push in the new smoke from the fires.”

That means this thick white blanket is going to stick around for several days. “With the pattern coming in we could see some improvement after Wednesday when we start to get more of a Northwest wind direction,” says Wallmann."
