This is simply amazing! See the complete restoration of a Mustang by WWII aircraft enthusiast and British machine engineer Maurice Hammond. This was one man's dream project, including a complete rebuild of the Rolls Royce Merlin that he did himself! .
The airframe assembly required the bucking of 27,000 rivets. He rebuilt/fabricated hundreds of the aircraft's missing pieces by himself from scratch. He had only the assistance of a small dedicated team that he hired.
The aircraft was acquired from a collector in New Zealand who had it in pieces. Maurice had already done a Hurricane resto, and the guy NZ wanted a Hurricane, so they traded.
This a real treasure, including why the Mustang whistles (at 37:40). This is a documentary by Nik Coleman, and he is working on several others. All I can say is . . WOW!
