No intent to hijack this thread (it is a related topic though), but what has become of Stu's Spirit of Texas? It hasn't been at Reno in a few years right?
At least the SoT trailer made it!!

He still owns it and does a few airshows with it.

Would love to see Spirit of Texas and Fury back at Reno in 2014. Can't have too many big, beautiful Sea Furies!

Kind of hard for Stewart to fly two airplanes in the Gold....

                    Why?

Last time he was it took eight weeks to remove, repair and reinstall 18 cylinders.

I'm not sure that is quite fair. As I recall there was a communication problem between him and some else. He followed standard operating procedures as had been done in the past is what I recall.

Why? Because J.C. is one of the kickassingest race pilots still flying in the unlimiteds. If you aren't willing to melt it, you're afraid to race.

I would say you do not follow any of the threads.

Before this thread gets locked with all the mud slinging, I figured I better jump in. Starting at the 3:55 mark Ezell talks about the program.

I think the finished pretty respectable for basically a new air racing program. Same thing for Precious Metal, almost a different airplane in some ways. Now whether Rare Bear would be further along with the old crew vs the new is open to debate...
