Is the top cowl scoop new? I don't remember that before............I think it used to have a NACA type inlet?

Does anyone know why the GP-5 didn't make Reno? Also found this Sport Aviation article showing the build:

Don't know the exact details, but it has an oil scavenge problem. Pretty sure that is a dry sump motor, so it is a bit complicated. Either way, they worked on it till the last second, then had to pull Breathless out of the corner to whoop some ass in the gold.

Lee kept himself busy flying something in every class. I missed the GP-5 also. Loved the sound.

                    Re: GP-5

FYI the above vid does not work. I think the GP-5 would make a find sport racer.it would need a more powerful engine to compete in the unlimited class.

The GP-5 IS a sport class racer.

At one time I believe there was no weight restriction to race in the Unlimited, I know many moons ago Dave Morss attempted to race a Lancair and had a prop blade exit stage left (or was it right)

I believe the weight limit is minimum 6000lb to race Unlimited?

I know Sport has a maximum displacement, is there also a max weight?
