  • Dago Red wins Gold in 2003!

Dago Red took the lead right off the start with Rare Bear close behind, followed by Critical Mass.

Voodoo called a mayday in the second lap and we do not know the reason at this writing.

Dago Red's first two laps were unofficially clocked at 507-mph.

The average speed for the Unlimited Final Gold Race was 488.13-mph.

In the last lap, Dago Red had a 4 second lead on the Rare Bear.

Critical Mass did a great job holding third position.
Czechmate kept up with the big boys and ran really well.
Furias had a light trail of smoke but sounded and ran great.

    Congradulations to Dago Red!!
    Welcome back Bear!!

Huge congrats to both Dago and the Bear! Both teams worked VERY hard, and its good to see that neither had any major failures...

Good to see both teams finish with their AC in one piece. Hopefully both will be back and better then ever next year when I can actually go.......and maybe, just maybe, a certain farmer had enough spectating and will be back. Doubtful I know, but ya never can tell.

        reno 03

Thanks for the info G.G.. For I was in a deep dark depression by not being able to Reno this year. Your reports are the only thing that keep me from suicide

Congrats to team Dago Red, for winning the Gold with an average speed of 487.938 MPH! This team should be proud for having broken the coveted 500 MPH race barrier!

            Thanks Griffongirl

Thanks for your prompt updates. They're much appreciated.

Great picture of you bubbling from all that excitement in the other forum too.

Sounds like a good race - esp. when no one breaks too badly. 488 is not full out by any stretch, but it's enough to get the job done. I was hoping Critical Mass could show up near 495+, but only the Dwelle camp can know if they can improve their speed for next year.

Hat's off to Lyle's crew. Keep it together for next year - hopefully with even better sponsorship.

              Congrats, but.....

What about Miss A. They came from scrap metal to Silver champs in just one year. Granted they didn't win the race due to a pylon cut by Fury and September Pops moving into the gold but that plane had it's first test flight after ground up restoration on 09-01-03........ Good job Mr. Hisey and crew....

The weather and the racing was great all weekend. I made it to Stead just in time for fridays last unlimited heat. What a run by both the bear and dago. Picked up my "bear brew" that night at the bear cave, and got to talk with John and Lyle about the status of the Bear. Other highlights:

                  watch great racing action.
                  drink plenty of beer.
                  lose money at the casino.
                  ARKANSAS BEATS TEXAS.
                  watch more racing.
                  drink more beer.

                  can't wait for next year.

That's right Big Bro. I had a great time. There were some good close races. I did figure out that all the "free" beer at the casino, if I carried the one correctly, cost me about $58.00 per beer.

Let's do it again next year. I know I can get my money back.
