  • Rare Bear Sighting

Heading home this afternoon traffic is stopped both ways at Walker Lake, a few miles from Hawthorne, Nevada. I'm thinking WTF is going on here, maybe a crash or whatever. Traffic starts to move and I see Rare Bear on the trailer and 4 NHP cars. Passing by on the left side everything looked good. I don't know what was going on if anything. Sorry, no pics.

200 miles in 7 days? Must have suffered a permit snafu or something.

Lol, and I thought she was ahead of me by at least 3 days when we left Reno. I guess I was wrong. We took our time and hit the big D and our new home tomorrow.

I wonder if the 4 Nevada Highway Patrol cars are a requirement for the journey through Nevada or a free escort courtesy? I'm thinking nothing is free.

Jim Scott from Hawthorne here. Of all the Darn days to have a doctors appointment in Reno. At about 09:15 met the RB
about Lockwood on 80. One NHP leading one following. Rules as I know of, Freeway two NHP. Two lane where both lanes need to be blocked, then four. Ten years ago I was involved in a move and it was $500 a day per car. No idea what it is now.

                Jim,

You said you saw it today at Lockwood, thats just 5 miles East of Sparks. Tele1s post yesterday said he saw it at Walker lake?

                What gives, confused?

I'm getting reports of sightings of Rare Bear arriving at...SHAFTER...and that the Texas trip is a cover-up. What gives?

                      Maybe they got lost?
If it showed up a Shafter, would Tiger throw rocks at it?

Everybody now: ".......Tigers and Bears,oh my!.......Tigers and Bears,oh my!" Could it be? Is this the biggest cover-up since Watergate? Did Tiger sell out to the roundy guys? I'm bettin' he sticks a Griffon on the front of the thing and gives Thom a run in the egg-beater class.

Don't forget "Tiger" rebuilt & sold a P47. I think he & team also did work on "Czech Mate" Sherman Smoot could fly the "Bear".

Remember the pic of a certain young, hot-shot pilot/mechanic wearing a wig and leaned over a 3350??

Ahhh...It's all making sense now... Mr. Lewis bought the Witch too, and he's adding it to the trailer load, and taking them both to Texas for his personal air racing museum?
