  • Radio Station ?

Does anybody know the Radio Station that re-broadcasts the announcers at Stead?.... I think it's a low-power local transmitter.

    Thanks!

Why would you want to hear the announcers? They are the worst part of the air races.

So you can use that signal in a noise cancelling headset entirely eliminating all the babble in favor of the sweet sound of high strung V12s being followed by big radials.

        That's why.

it might be difficult just by listening to the planes to hear who wins if your using a radio

Every year I have to look for it again. It's not hard to find though.

If nobody offers a freq., then just scan the FM band when a race or airshow act is going on, and you should hear somebody fairly quickly.

And yes, it is local to the event. Once you get over the hill heading into Reno on 395, it fades out very rapidly. Too bad they don't transmit farther and let Reno's locals listen in.

I think it is the "wireless" connection to the outlying PA system speakers. Not necessarily a broadcast to the public, especially since the frequency is not advertised.

If so, then that's one system that I'm glad hasn't gone digital.
