  • The sound of Round

I live close to Moffet Field.

The sound of the big radials has been filling the air for most of the morning.

Thanks to the Collings Foundation for bringing them out for all to enjoy.

The air too has been puncuated with the o-so-fine sound of a finely tuned inline!(My personal favorite!)

I know Airdogge is close so I imagine he is enjoying this treat too.

If you're in the area they'll be here all next week.

    Only in America!

Yup, I'm im Sunnyvale too. For this kid, it's like the circus comin' to town.

Wrights and Pratts and Merlins, oh my. B-24 just flew over the house, what a great plane.

Every time a "Big Guy" or that "Fast Guy" departs the base giving rides, they head approx. due west over Mountain View, taking them nearly over my house on the way out every time. The deep, bass-like rumbling of those huge radials comes right through the walls, and the "...........rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr..........." of that big Merlin passing by several times a day is unmistakable and loud.

--> Is th' ol' AirDOGGe enjoying all this distraction?

They should all be at Livermore over the Memorial Day weekend if you want more.

It was a fitting tribute and totally impromptu. While starting to celebrate my father's life of 89 years on Saturday morning (19th) at St. Athanasius church in Mountain View Ca. The B-17 flew over. Dad was a veteran and flew over 35 missions in Europe as an engineer/gunner. Brought a huge smile to all of our faces.

            Love ya Dad.
